TheIndonesia.co - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated President Joko Widodo to meet CEO of Tesla Elon Musk on May 14, 2022. President Jokowi is also scheduled to visit SpaceX, another company belonging to Elon Musk.
"Later on May 14 during President Joko Widodo's state visit to the United States, Elon Musk promised to change his schedule in order to meet directly with President Jokowi, who is also scheduled to visit SpaceX," said Luhut on his personal Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan, Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Luhut also invited the CEO of Tesla Inc. Elon Musk to attend the B20 forum, which is one of the series of the G20 summit in Bali, next November. The invitation was conveyed by Luhut when he met Elon Musk at the Tesla Giga Factory in Austin, Texas, United States.

"I hope this is not our last meeting and in the future, there will be discussions regarding the progress of the development of the nickel industry in Indonesia, which is high-tech, and can bring our country into the global supply chain of the electric vehicle industry," he said.
In his posting, Luhut shared his experience of being warmly welcomed by Elon Musk at the Tesla electric car factory. Although the momentum was the first meeting between the two, Luhut admitted that he had been communicating for the past two years.
"For about an hour, I conveyed the potential raw material for electric vehicle batteries, which we are currently exploring through the mineral downstream program," said Luhut.
The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs also expressed Elon Musk's interest in cooperation this time. According to him, this was thanks to his presentation about the huge potential of the nickel industry in Indonesia, which Elon Musk considered very promising to supply raw materials for electric car batteries.
"...The most comforting thing for me was when Elon conveyed the reason for his interest in this collaboration, namely because of my exposure to the huge potential of the Nickel Industry in Indonesia which changed his perception because he considered it very promising to be able to supply raw materials for electric car batteries, which Tesla really needs, of course, as one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers," he said.
